Glow sticks and carols will help three schools ring in the Christmas cheer in Sandgate on Thursday 5 December.

Carols by the Bay will see students from Sandgate, Nashville and Brighton state schools sing together at Einbunpin Lagoon.

Cr Jared Cassidy said it would be a fun family night because the real focus was on the children from local schools.

“For decades this event has been a great family night out in Sandgate,” he said. “I remember attending carols in Sandgate with my family growing up and later singing in my school choir.

“This event hasn’t lost any of its magic.”

Cr Cassidy will team up with State Member for Sandgate, Stirling Hinchliffe, and for the first time Federal Member, Anika Wells, will carry on the tradition of former Member for Lilley, Wayne Swan.

The performances will start at 6pm, with the Multitude Choir and then the two combined school choirs will go on stage.

Once again, the students will be accompanied by the Pine Rivers Municipal Brass Band.

“We will (also) have a sausage sizzle, coffee, drinks, lions Christmas cakes and a special visit from Santa – and free glow sticks,” Cr Cassidy added.
