Learn how to write a professional media release to promote your creative event, community group, sporting club or not-for-profit organisation, at a workshop being held at the Sandgate Town Hall this month.
Local journalist and workshop presenter, Jacqueline Henry, said, “Many people struggle to write a media release and include either too much information, or too little. However, when you provide a professional media release and usable photos, you have a much better chance of getting your story in a newspaper or magazine.
“In this workshop, I will share industry information about story angles and ideas, how to catch an editor’s attention, how news is selected and the importance of submitting great photos.
“People underestimate how powerful good photographs are when pitching a story to an editor. A great photo, and a media release that includes all the relevant information, are more likely to be selected over content that requires follow-up for clarification or a better photograph.”
Jacqueline suggests submitting both landscape and portrait photos with your media release, so the editor has more options fitting your content into the available space.
The workshop is on Saturday, 24 August from 9am in Meeting Room 1 at Sandgate Town Hall and costs $99.20. For more information or to book, search ‘J Henry writer’ on Facebook or visit www.eventbrite.com.au and search ‘How to Write a Media Release Sandgate’.
