Sausage Supremacy for Brighton Butcher
Having won four awards in the recent Sausage King competition, Jason’s Quality Meats continues to beef up its reputation as a favoured local butcher.

The free-range specialist returned from the Brisbane North Regional judging at Eatons Hill, with a first in the gourmet category for its beef, tomato and caramelised onion sausage and a third place, also in the gourmet category, for its jalapeno and cheese sausage.

Shop owner, Jason Andrews, said they entered two sausages for two of the 36 gourmet categories.

“To get two awards from the two products we entered was excellent,” he said.

“Some of the other butchers are entering 80 or 90 products so we were happy to have both of our entries win awards.” 

The Queens Parade butcher also won second place for its traditional beef sausage and its traditional pork sausage.

As part of the judging, sausages are cooked and then presented to the judges for a blind testing. Sausages are judged on texture, flavour and presentation.

When asked what makes his sausages special, Jason said it was the ingredients.

“Our sausages use high quality cuts of meat and they’re all natural with no preservatives,” he said.
