The Bayside’s artistic talents will be on show this month as the Sandgate Art Society presents its 11th year of the Sandgate Easter Art Show.
Sandgate Art Society president John Blackley says the show coincides with The Bluewater Festival and is an excellent community event as it features predominantly local artists.
“The show is celebrating its 11th anniversary at St Patrick’s College in Shorncliffe, this year at the Callan Centre at 30 Pier Avenue. There is strong interest from artists and guests near and far,” he says.
“And I believe the fact that the event attracts hundreds of visitors each year says a lot about the vibrant art community we have here in Sandgate.”
John says people can expect great quality art in the mediums of painting, drawing, prints, photographs, pottery and sculpture.
“The highlight of this family-friendly event will be opening night when the art prizes are announced,” he says. The Thursday Opening will be popular with delicious canapes and drinks being served.
On Friday morning there will be a Pier Avenue footpath pop up art show as well. Friday evening will be a fun Hawaiian night with a performance from the local ukulele group.
Artists will be in the running for First Prize is $1000 sponsored by Stirling Hinchliffe MP and we have many other local generous sponsors including Sandgate Central. “The show begins on Thursday, April 18 and runs until Saturday, March 20.
Artists have until April 9 to submit their entries online www.sandgateart.org/easter-...
