Now in its 6th year ‘Rock Under The Clock’ has become somewhat of an institution, a ‘nostalgic must’ for many lovers of 60’s dance and music on the northside..
The biannual event featuring local Sandgate group ,Jim Hansen and The Sonics has earnt over $45,000 for the Sandgate Police Citizens Youth Club to benefit its Crime Prevention and Youth Diversionary Programmes.
Sandgate PCYC Branch Manager Sergeant Chris Lambert, accepted a cheque for $8500 from the organisation committee, as proceeds from the most recent dance event. He said, “Rock Under The Clock has become a major donor of funds in aid of our community programs. With limited funding from government we are very dependent on donations such as this to support our activities.”
“We are extremely appreciative of the efforts put in by volunteers and the generosity of the local business community which have combined to make each event an outstanding success.” he added.
‘Rock Under The Clock’ is held each May and November at the historic Sandgate Town Hall. Details of the next event on the 25th May will appear in the May Edition of the Sandgate Guide.
