Are you looking for unique, handmade Christmas gifts? Then you’d be well advised to visit the Carseldine Christmas market!
Now in its fourth year, the twilight Christmas market, which will open on Friday, December 14, has proven to be one of the most popular northside events in the lead-up to Christmas.
Market manager Tess Dougherty says the event has quickly become a fixture in people’s calendars, with “huge numbers” of enquiries and more stall holders than ever before.
“It’s bigger than our normal market. Usually we have about 150 stalls but for the Christmas market, we have 200 plus,” she says.
“People will be able to buy wonderful food from local producers, and there’ll be artisan goods, handmade crafts, jams, coffee, chocolates, wine, brownies – you name it! It’s absolutely the place to go for all your Christmas shopping.”
The market features Christmas decorations, kids’ activities and specialty pop-up stalls, as well as a range of gourmet festive foods, cakes, fresh produce, artisan gifts and a number of unique items that shoppers won’t find anywhere else.
The event coincides with the final day of the school year, for most public schools and Tess says it’s a nice way to kick start the school holidays.
“We’ll have choirs performing carols and a few different bands as well,” she said.
“There’s plenty of parking available and we’re having an awesome range of live entertainment. Santa Claus will be there, of course, and it’s going to be lots of fun. Holding it in the evening makes for a nice, relaxed, cool shopping environment.”
“We would say that we’re the main northside Christmas market event and I am really excited about this year’s market. It’s such a brilliant night and really filled with the Christmas spirit.
“It’s just a great event to bring your family to; bring the kids, your boyfriend, girlfriend, brother, sister – everyone!”
