Dust off your boots, grab your hat and saddle up folks, because you can be part of a local country music festival that will get your ‘boots-a-scootin’, and all for a good cause!
In November the Bracken Ridge Tavern will host the ‘Bracken Ridge To The Bush’ festival, which will provide much–needed funds for our farming community through its support for the not-for-profit organisation ‘Drought Angels’.
Australian country music legend James Blundell will headline the event, supported by a host of musical talent, including four-time Golden Guitar winner, Drew McAlister, and award winning Bracken Ridge local, Seleen Mac, who is also a force in the Australian country music scene.
Seleen was a Female Vocalist of the Year finalist in the Golden Guitar, 2017, after releasing her album ‘Follow The Journey’, and she has also won the Mildura Southern Stars Awards Female Vocalist Of the Year.
Seleen spoke to the Sandgate Guide, saying, “I’m so happy to be a part of this. My family are all from the country and James Blundell is a third generation farmer, so he’s living through this drought right now.”
Seleen says that the country music scene in Australia is pretty tight-knit, and gathers closer together when it comes to supporting regional community in times of need.
“It’s kind of nice that we can bring the country music to the city; there are lots of country music fans in this area who also understand what farmers are going through right now,” Seleen says.
Besides the epic live country music line-up, the Bracken Ridge To The Bush Festival will have a host of fun for kids. The day will be jam-packed with roving entertainment, face painting, a petting zoo, jumping castle and more! There will also be a Dress Up Competition for kids to show off their best farm themed outfit!
