Bulldogs’ Gala Bash
After a successful season, the Brighton Bulldogs are ready to hang up their boots and celebrate their annual Gala Day event.

Each year the football club’s Gala Day brings together past and present members, players, coaches, volunteers, their families and the local community.

The afternoon will kick off at 3.30pm with presentations for the MiniRoos and the club’s junior and senior teams. This year the club fielded 12 competitive teams from juniors and seniors through to Over 30s and 45s.

Afterwards, the family fun continues with an afternoon filled with entertainment, carnival rides, food and drink, finishing with the famous fireworks specular.

This year, the entertainment promises to be bigger and better than ever, with football challenges, bubble soccer, rides, rock wall, jumping castle and more. Ride passes will be available to purchase on the day.

Back by popular demand is the Food Truck zone featuring a wide range of dinner options to suit all ages and budgets. The club canteen will also be open, selling food and drinks.

Club president Nick James says 2018 has been a transitional year for the club with a new management committee dedicated to improving the club both financially and on the field.

“For the first time, we have formed an all-girls U9 team, which has been a great success, and we hope to build on female participation in all age groups in the coming years,’’ Nick says.

“We have also appointed a head coach to oversee the development of all our young players, at all skill levels.’’

Nick says the Gala Day is a great opportunity for teams and supporters to get together and celebrate their season, but also a chance to reach out to the community and thank volunteers.

“Our community is pivotal to the success of our club.”

This spring the club is holding an inaugural five-a-side competition, which will hopefully become a regular end-of-season fixture. The competition will run for eight weeks, kicking off October 10.
