Racing, food, fun and fashion will return to the Deagon racetrack this month for the popular Deagon Picnic Race Day.
The annual event is a great day out for the whole family, where guests can celebrate the closing of the winter racing season and enjoy a relaxing, fun-filled day out.
Racing Queensland acting CEO Simon Stout says racing has been a part of the Deagon and bayside community for many years.
“The great thing about a Queensland race day is that there is something to entertain both mum, dad and the children,” he says.
“While mum and dad will be able to enjoy a flutter on the races, the children can take part in various entertainment activities - children under five years old can also enter the racecourse for free.
“Although there are more than 1500 race meetings held across Queensland each year, the Deagon Picnic Race Day is unique in that it captures the spirit and relaxed atmosphere of a country race meeting, less than 30 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.”
Deagon Racing Club president Walter Kuhn says the Deagon Picnic Race Day was first launched in 2013, and after a short break, he is excited to see it return in 2018.
“There are so many exciting new additions to signal the return of the race day in 2018,” he says.
“For the first time, a perpetual Deagon Cup will be awarded to the winning connections of the main race.
“There will also be a number of promotions throughout the day including a best ‘selfie’ competition and lucky number prize draws.
“ The wonderful thing about a community race day like this is that each person who walks off course may take home a different highlight for the day.
“For punters, there will be five exciting thoroughbred races, while for others it might be the fashion, the food, the live entertainment, or simply catching up with old friends.”
The event offers patrons a range of options to suit all budgets and race day experiences. General Admission ticket holders can purchase food and beverages at various bars and food trucks situated on-course, and VIP Marquee ticket options are also available, starting from $65 per person.
