The Cardigan Bar at Sandgate has a case of the blues — and everyone’s invited to come along and stomp along to an afternoon and evening of great tunes, incredible food and craft brews.
Cardigan Bar owner Brett Johnson says the event will have a small, festival-like feel about it, which Sandgate will love.
“ The day will consist of three incredible blues artists: Barry Charles, Adam Christy and Alex McKean — Barry will start at 2.30pm, and the music will continue well into the evening,” he says.
“We will also have Ryan MacLeod and his staff from MacLeod brewing taking over the taps and launching their canning range of new beers on the day.
“There will be drink specials and popular food truck King of Wings will be providing the locals with their delicious food.”
Brett says the event is a first for the venue and locals are really getting behind the event.
“It’s great to be able to reward our local patrons with the original genre that the Cardigan Bar was built on,” he says.
“For those who have missed the blues train, this is a great opportunity for people to experience a number of blues artists in the one afternoon, in one location.”
Adam Christy is one of three blues acts performing on the day and says he is looking forward to bringing his brand of blues, bluegrass and country blues to the event.
“I have played at the Cardigan bar quite a few times over the three years I have been performing as a solo artist and have enjoyed amazing support from both the staff and the patrons,” he says.
“It has become the great local music venue they have, and they continue to support great local artists.
“I will be performing mostly blues covers from a mix of artists, some with a country influence and some from slightly more obscure or less known artists.
“This coupled with the other musicians on the night as well as the fantastic bar staff and brewers attending, will make for a great night.”
