Long Table Dinner
When it comes to fine dining events, size matters. And so it will with one of the longest single table events in the world headed for its third successful year right here at Shorncliffe Pier on April 28.

Sandgate and Districts Chamber of Commerce president Bill Gollan says the bayside’s Long Table Dinner is not only a highlight of the year for the local area, but is gaining quite the reputation throughout the greater Brisbane area as a truly unique event.

“This is the third year The Long Table Dinner has been held, and ticket sales are going gangbusters — we are hoping to sell about 700 this year,” he says.

“We continue to run the event as they have been so successful, but the main goal is to attract people to the area.

“Of this year’s ticket sales to date, only one third have been local, with the remainder hailing from all over Brisbane, some as far as the Glasshouse Mountains, Toowoomba and Ipswich.

“We had a lot of positive comments last year from people who had never been to the area, and they were astonished and incredibly complimentary of the night and the area itself —  it is such a great way to celebrate the pier and the community.”

Bill says the event will begin at 5pm with pre-dinner drinks, canapes and music on the shore before guests move on to the pier as the sun goes down.

“On the pier, the dinner will showcase this year’s theme of blue, and guests will dine under a full moon to gourmet food and beverages from a brand new catering team,” he says.

“ After dinner, the party will continue with a fantastic live party band, The Funky Monkeys, and guests can dance the night away in front of the pier.

“We like to say that strangers sit down together, but they stand up as friends.”

Bill says the popularity of the event means The Long Table Dinner is here to stay for years to come. “Where else can you go and eat dinner on one long table lining a beautiful pier?” he says.

“We believe this to be the longest single pier table in the world, and it is right here in our own Bayside backyard.”
