Mark it in your diaries, bayside. The Deagon Picnic Race Day is on again on July 8, so rein in your friends and families for a day of fun, food and racing frivolities.
A Racing Queensland spokesperson says the Deagon Picnic Race Day is a family-friendly event and the picnic setting will ensure there is something to keep mum, dad and the children entertained.
“Racing has been a part of the fabric of the Deagon and bayside community for almost 120 years,” he says.
“The Deagon Picnic Racing Club and the Brisbane Racing Club will facilitate all the fun
and festivities on the day, and are working together to finalise a schedule of events.”
Racing Minister Sterling Hinchliffe is excited about the upcoming day and says there have only been a handful of race meetings held at the track since 1941.
“More than 720,000 people attended thoroughbred meetings in Queensland last year, which proves there is nothing like the thrill of a Queensland race day,” he says.
“The Deagon meeting will allow the bayside community to experience this thrill right on their doorstep.”
