Spring has well and truly sprung at Bracken Ridge State School with the much-awaited return of their Spring Fair.
Held on Saturday, October 14, the fair promises a great day of family fun and excitement, topped off with a spectacular celebratory fireworks show.
Organiser Kylie Starr says the school has enjoyed other fundraising events over the past four years, but are ready to host the family favourite event this month.
“Who doesn’t love a Fete?” she says.
“They bring the community, families and friends together for a special day out full of fun, games and activities for kids and parents, all while supporting our school.
“It is going to be an incredible event, and we hope to see as many faces as possible enjoying our wonderful fete.”
Kylie says the Spring Fair will have something for everyone.
“Our highlights include food trucks, market stalls, community stands, face painting and plenty of other games for both parents and children,” she says.
“There will also be some great entertainment including 2016 The Voice grand finalist Ellen Reed, and amazing carnival rides such as Super Sizzler, Bumper Balls, Pirate Ship, Merry Go Round, Super Slide, Wizard Castle and Tiki Island Castle.
Kylie says the students themselves will play an important part in the day.
“We have held a special poster competition with the winning posters used for our fete flyers, and the students are doing donation passports and helping with sorting books for the book fest,” she says.
“On the big day itself, the students will be involved in stage entertainment including dancing groups and the choir.”
"We’ll also have an animal farm, pony rides and train rides.”
Kylie says the fair is an important event on the calendar for the school community, with the funds raised being directed towards air conditioning units for each classroom at the school.
“There are times when we need to band together and support a good cause, and this is certainly one of those times,” she says.
“Each year, summer seems to get that little bit hotter and we believe having air-conditioning in the classrooms will be invaluable for the children and teachers.
“Our motto is ‘Knowledge is Strength’, and to give the children the opportunity to learn we need to have them in the right environment — air-conditioning in the classrooms will certainly provide the right environment for them.”
