Energised by international cuisine and world beats, the Zillmere Festival celebrates the culmination of 15 years of fun, food and culture.
A Brisbane favourite, the Zillmere Multicultural Festival returns to O’Callaghan Park with a vibrant mix of delicious foods, traditional and contemporary art and performances along with original stallholders for its 15th-year celebration of multiculturalism.
In welcoming the hopes and dreams of neighbours from around the planet, Zillmere and its nearby suburbs have become the most culturally diverse on Brisbane’s Northside, partly through the establishment of former refugee communities in recent years.
Event-goers can peruse creatively-themed, village-style food and craft stalls sponsored by local providers and multiple cultural groups exhibiting displays, workshops, crafts, demonstrations, song, dance and traditional foods. Local community groups and government agencies will also provide information, exhibits and activities, with the Festival offering plenty of free fun and workshops for people of all ages.
In the spirit of friendly competition, let the games begin! This year’s Festival will kick start the fun with a multicultural soccer tournament and exhibition stage championing the range of sporting pursuits available to locals in the area.
The Festival’s proud presenters include Jabiru Community Youth and Children’s Services with support from MDA, Kurbingui Youth Development Association, Zillmere PCYC, Zillmere Community Centre, Zillmere Library and Welcome to the Game with support from Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government.
The Zillmere Multicultural Festival is on Saturday, 9th September from 10am to 3pm. For more info, visit www.facebook.com/Zillmere-F... Zillmere Festival 9th September 2017, 10am - 3pm O’Callaghan Park, Zillmere (PCYC end of park)
