Excitement is building at Brighton State School as the school community prepares for its fete this month.
On Saturday, August 26 the school’s oval will be overflowing with fun for the whole family with amusements rides, yummy food, entertainment and much more.
School principal Chris Hansen says the fete is the perfect way to showcase what a great place Brighton State School is.
“Everyone has been working tirelessly to ensure a fun event for the whole family, and we are amazed at the support of our wonderful Brighton families,” Chris says.
Fete convenor Robyn Timmermans says students, teachers and families are busy preparing for the big day.
“Whilst our fete will raise some much-needed funds for our school, the fete is so much more than that. The fete is an opportunity for our fabulous Brighton and wider community to come together and enjoy the family day,’’ Robyn says.
Highlights of the fete include side show games, show bags, cent auction, pirate treasure hunt, the popular jar surprise stall, plant, bake and craft stalls, Chair Tent and much more.
Beat your hunger on the day with delicious food like burgers, chips, hotdogs and nachos, as well as fete favourites fairy floss, popcorn and snow cones.
The students’ talents will be on show with performances by the school choirs, bands and a dance by each year level.
Amusement rides promise to be bigger and better than ever with the Super Sizzler, Cup and Saucer, Giant Chair Swing, three inflatables, petty zoo and pony rides.
Five-hour pre-paid ride passes are available for purchase via Flexischools or the school uniform shop for $25. Ride passes will be $30 on the day of the fete.
This year proceeds from the fete will go towards a Makerspace in the school library. The Makerspace will promote learning through play and is a place that will be used by all students for a range of creative activities.
