Muses Trio Perform a Musical Treat for Seniors
Luxuriate in an afternoon of entertainment and discovery as Muses Trio celebrates the 200th anniversary of composer and pianist, Clara Schumann‘s, birth, with a performance of spoken word, diary extracts and music.

Known for their edgy, spine-tingling style, Muses Trio revive music composed by women and performed by women. Comprising of Christa Powell (violin), Louise King (cello) and Therese Milanovic (piano), Muses Trio focus on bringing little known, yet highly deserving works to the attention of their audience.

This special event is free to Seniors and perfect for music lovers who come with curiosity, ready to be swooned by gorgeous music said Therese Milanovic.

“People love discovering wonderful new music they haven’t heard before.”

“We make a point of programming fresh music by living composers alongside works from the past that have been overshadowed.”

“Audiences are moved by the beauty of the piano trio and also connect with Clara’s life story.”

Clara Schumann (1819 –1896) was a German musician and composer, considered one of the most distinguished composers and pianists of the Romantic era. She was a virtuoso - one of the first to perform from memory, wife to a very unstable genius and mother to eight children.

”We love shining the light back on Clara, to balance out in a small way the spotlight always upon her husband, Robert Schumann, who would have preferred that his wife stay home and off the stage,” Therese said.

“What makes this performance unusual is that we have fragmented the trio, introducing other works by women composers that represent different facets of Clara’s life: the grief of losing her baby Emil at 20 months, the struggle and pressure she faced with her domestic circumstances, and the joy in collaborating with some of her talented friends eg. Brahms.”

Highly relatable themes give the audience an anchor while the music takes them on an intriguing journey.
