HISTORICAL TOUR AT THE EINBUNPIN FESTIVAL
Sandgate’s annual community festival, the Einbunpin Festival, is only days away, and Festival organisers say the day’s activities offer something for everyone.
On Sunday 31st July the Einbunpin Lagoon Parklands will be buzzing with activity, according to Festival Chairperson Cr Victoria Newton.
“For those interested in some of the early European heritage of the Sandgate area, the Sandgate and District’s Historical Society have organised free bus tours of some of the fantastic older homes found around this area,” Festival Chairperson Cr Newton said.
“Departing at 11am and 11.45am from the bus stop Brighton Road towards Keogh Street, these free bus tours offer an insight into some of Sandgate’s earlier history.
“The Sandgate District has a very interesting variety of heritage buildings – many of which are getting a new lease on life.
“These tour not only offer people the chance to see some of these beautiful old buildings, but also hear some of the interesting stories which go with them.
”It doesn’t matter whether you live locally or will be visiting the area on the day, these free Sandgate Historical Society tours are a real eye-opener.
”Special thanks to Hornibrook Buslines for their support by providing the bus and driver at no cost.”
According to Festival Chairperson Cr Victoria Newton, there’s no need to book to take part in the bus tours, simply turn up just before the bus is due to depart.
