Magic Canvas Competition
Hands on Art, in conjunction with the Einbunpin Festival Committee have joined forces to develop this special event, now in its third year. Encouraging schools, community groups and individuals to participate and help to create a magic patchwork wall of individual canvasses.
We'll be displaying all together at the festival - so if you live in the Sandgate area and want to be involved then read the instructions, put your creative hat on and join us in making this a magical event for your community.
On the day of the festival, winning entries will be chosen and awarded prizes. This is your chance to be an award winning artist - come and join us!!
“The Festival Organising Committee is encouraging schools, community groups and individuals to participate and create their own artwork,” Mr Cheyne said.
“Last year it was the magic festival carpet – this year it’s the magic patchwork wall - made up of the painted canvas creations.
“2011 is the International Year of Forests, so we’ve chosen trees as this year’s theme.
“You can paint anything to do with trees - from a palm tree on an island, to a moonie woon tree, to a tree house or a tree person.
“Your choice of coloured acrylic paints, pastels, collage materials or use all of them at once to create a mixed media magical masterpiece!
“The artwork must be on canvas or board measuring no more than 35cm2.
“Entry is free and prizes for winning artworks will be announced on the day.”
Blank canvasses can also be obtained from Councillor Victoria Newton’s office in Cliff Street Sandgate for gold coin donation.
Entry form flyers for the Einbunpin Festival are also available from Cr Newton’s office or online at www.einbunpinfestival.org.au.
All entries need to be delivered to the festival site by 9:00am on the day or alternatively delivered to Councillor Victoria Newton’s Deagon Ward Office on Friday 29th July during office hours. All entries must be submitted with a completed entry form.
